The incident happened on Monday, Feb. 13 around 3:15 p.m., when police in Peekskill responded to the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Depew Street, where a car had hit the pedestrian, Lieutenant Adam Renwick said.
The pedestrian was then taken to Westchester Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was issued multiple tickets following the incident, Renwick said.
Members of the local community organization Peekskill Walks commented on the incident on social media, saying that the intersection should be made safer for those who choose to walk.
"This intersection has all-way stop signs, but it could still benefit from curb extensions, raised crosswalks, and other safety upgrades, especially given how many students and others walk through here," the organization said in a post.
